فراخوان ۳۰ فعال سیاسی و مدنی برای آزادی نسرین ستوده و تمامی تلاشگران گذار مسالمت آمیز

ستوده نماد تلاشگری برای گذار مسالمت‌آمیز است؛

 

نسرین ستوده یکی از خوشنام‌ترین مبارزان مدنی ایران است؛ او یک حقوقدان ملی و مدنی است که شجاعانه از حقوق اقشار مختلف مردم دفاع کرده و می‌کند؛ او یک دموکراسی‌خواه خشونت‌پرهیز است که صریحا اعلام کرده جمهوری اسلامی اصلاح‌پذیر نیست؛ او خواهان برگزاری رفراندومی آزاد بر سر اصل نظام شده تا از طریقی دموکراتیک و با گذاری مسالمت‌آمیز بتوان ایران را از استبداد دینی به یک دموکراسی سکولار رساند. او مورد احترام جهانیان است و باعث افتخار ایرانیان آزادیخواه. این ویژگی‌های انسانی از نظر جمهوری اسلامی گناهانی نابخشودنی هستند.

جمهوری اسلامی با طرح اتهامات واهی، تکراری و مضحک (نظیر جاسوسی، اقدام علیه امنیت ملی و کمک به تشکیل کلیسای خانگی) و با جرم انگاشتن مطالبات مدنی (نظیر تلاش برای لغو مجازات اعدام، مخالفت با حجاب اجباری، دفاع از حقوق اقلیت‌های مذهبی و درخواست رفراندوم بر سر اصل نظام) او را برای چندمین بار به زندان انداخته است تا وی و دیگر کنشگران مدنی داخل ایران را مرعوب سازد. همچنین با هجوم به منازل بستگان و دوستان نسرین ستوده و دستگیری یکی از همفکرانش (دکتر فرهاد میثمی، فعال مدنی)، نظام تلاش می‌کند تا او را تحت آزار و فشار مضاعف قرار دهد؛ نسرین ستوده در اعتراض به این وضعیت غیرانسانی و غیرقانونی از تاریخ ۳ شهریور دست به اعتصاب غذا زده است.  

ما جمعی از دموکراسی‌خواهان و مدافعان «گذار مسالمت‌آمیز» خواهان آزادی نسرین ستوده و تمامی زندانیان سیاسی و عقیدتی هستیم. ایران ما برای گذار از استبداد مذهبی به یک نظام دموکراتیک و ملی نیازمند زنان و مردانی است که در این سالها برای دفاع از حقوق مردم ازخودگذشتگی و ایستادگی کردند و آلوده به فسادهای حکومتی نشدند. صدها زندانی سیاسی و عقیدتی همچون نسرین ستوده، نرگس محمدی، عبدالفتاح سلطانی، آرش صادقی، گلرخ ایرایی، آتنا دایمی، محمد مهدوی‌فر، محمود بهشتی، محمد حبیبی، قاسم شعله‌سعدی و صدها درویش و دانشجو و معلم و وکیل و کارگر و فعال حقوق اقوام و بهایی و سنی و مسیحی و دیگر کنشگران و معترضان مدنی نامدار و گمنام که در گوشه و کنار ایران زندانی شده‌اند، یا مورد فشار و محرومیت‌های مختلف قرار گرفته‌اند، سرمایه‌های اجتماعی کشور هستند که برای یک «گذار مسالمت‌آمیز» تلاش می‌کنند. تضعیف و حذف این کنشگران که رویه چهل ساله جمهوری اسلامی بوده است، موجب خاموش شدن صدای اعتراض و نارضایتی مردم نخواهد شد، همانگونه که چهار دهه سرکوب دگراندیشان موجب فراموشی مطالبات آزادیخواهانه و عدالت‌طلبانه نشده است. 

ما امضاکنندگان زیر که «گذار مسالمت‌آمیز» از نظام ولایی به یک نظام دموکراتیک سکولار را مناسبترین راه «نجات ایران» میدانیم، بار دیگر اعلام میکنیم که همچون نسرین ستوده، خواهان برگزاری رفراندوم بر سر اصل نظام جمهوری اسلامی هستیم تا مردم ایران در یک رفراندوم آزاد – با نظارت نهادهای بین المللی و ناظران مستقل ملی – نظرشان درباره نظام و عملکرد چهل ساله آنرا بیان کنند. رفراندوم‌خواهی نه تنها جرم نیست بلکه مسالمت‌آمیزترین و دموکراتیک‌ترین شیوه گذار است.  

ما نسرین ستوده را به عنوان نماد تلاشگری برای گذار مسالمت‌آمیز می‌دانیم و برای آزادی او از هیچ کوششی دریغ نمی‌کنیم و از تمامی آزادی‌خواهان ایران و جهان و نهادهای بین‌المللی و حقوق بشری دعوت می‌کنیم تا برای آزادی او تلاش کنند.

۳۰ Iranian political and civil rights activists call for the release of Nasrin Sotoudeh

 

Sotoudeh is the prominent fighter for the peaceful transition

 

Nasrin Sotoudeh is one of Iranians most renowned civil rights activists. As an independent lawyer, she has courageously been defending the rights of various segments of Iranian population. Moreover, Sotoudeh supports non-violent transformation to democracy. She has said it time and again that the Islamic Republic is incapable of reform. She has been a staunch proponent of a free and fair referendum for a peaceful transformation from a theocracy into a secular democracy. Sotoudeh’s efforts and courage are internationally acclaimed and Iranians yearning for freedom are proud of her. Yet, these humane qualities that Sotoudeh embodies are, from the point of view of the Islamic Republic, unforgivable sins. 

 

Through trumped up and ridiculous charges (such as acting as a spy, endangering national security, and helping organise secret home-based church groups) and with the accusation of supporting civil causes (such as working to abolish death penalty, opposition to compulsory hijab, defending the rights of religious minorities, and overtly asking for referendum over the existing theocracy), Nasrin Soutoudeh has been imprisoned for the umpteenth time. However, it is abundantly clear that through her imprisonment, authorities want to deter future civil rights activists from campaigning for human rights. Moreover, by storming into Sotoudeh’s relatives’ house and by arresting one of her staunch supporters (Dr. Farhad Meysami, a civil rights activist), the regime aims to keep her under greater pressure. In protest to her inhumane conditions and her unlawful arrest, she started a hunger strike on August 25th.

 

We, the undersigned, a group of democracy activists and proponents of Iran’s “peaceful transition to democracy”, are asking for the unconditional release of Nasrin Sotoudeh and all the other political prisoners imprisoned for their opinions. For a peaceful transition from a religious dictatorship to a democratic and representative system, our Iran is in dire need of women and men who have made enormous sacrifices within the last several years to defend human rights. People like Nasrin Sotoudeh, Narges Mohammadi, Abdolfateh Soltani, Arash Sadeghi, Golrokh Iraei, Atena Daemi, Mohammad Mahdavifar, Mahmoud Beheshti, Mohammad Habibi, Ghasem Sholeh-Saadi, and hundreds of dervishes, workers, teachers, student activists, lawyers, minority rights activists, Bahai’s, Sunnis, Christians, as well as many other civil rights activists have been either imprisoned in all four corners of Iran or are in the throes of various types of pressure and deprivations; these people are Iran’s invaluable human resources for a peaceful transition to democracy. It has been a dream for the Islamic Republic to shut down these voices for the past 40 years. Despite such widespread imprisonment, people will continue voicing their discontent with the status quo, just like the way that the Islamic Republic’s 4-decade long repression has not managed to discourage Iranians from pressing for their rights and freedom. 

 

We, the undersigned who are promoting a “peaceful transition” from the rule of a theocratic regime to a democratic and secular system as the best solution to “save Iran”, just like Nasrin Soutodeh, are asking for a free referendum, supervised by international observers and independent domestic groups, over the current Islamic Republic, so that Iranian people can express their real judgment about the functionality of the current regime and their true aspirations with regards to the type of political system that they would like to have. Asking for a free referendum is not only not a crime, but it is the most peaceful and democratic way for a transition to democracy. 

 

Nasrin Sotoudeh is the prominent fighter for Iran’s peaceful transition. We will not refrain from resorting to exhausting all the avenues for her release. We hereby ask all the pro-democracy activists and human rights organisations world-wide to campaign for her release.
