با توجه به اینکه اعتراضات تودەای جاری در ایران آنطوری که لازم است از طرف افکار عمومی جهان و نهادهای مربوطه مورد توجه قرار نگرفته است، ضروری است به عنوان بخش مهمی از کمپین حمایت از این اعتراضات و مبارزه با رژیم اسلامی، با احزاب پیشرو، اتحادیەها، نهادها و مطبوعات خارجی تماس گرفته شود.

!To whom it may concern

The people of Iran have risen in a mass protest in over a hundred cities across the country following the regime’s decision to raise gas prices by 300%. The regime has deployed its security forces in an effort to suppress .the protest with deadly force

According to the latest reports more than one hundred people have been killed or seriously injured as a direct result of shooting by police forces. The mass protest is rapidly gaining strength and the regime is responding with increased deadly violence.

It is vital to highlight that the increase in gas the gas price is not the sole or even principal cause of the widespread protests. The majority of the people of Iran live in extreme poverty, which in combination with political oppression has made life unsustainable for millions of people. Unemployment is as high as 40% among young people and inflation has reached 46%. Workers, teachers, retirees, farmers and all other sections of society cannot meet their basic needs and young people have lost all hope in a better future.

The regime’s inability and unwillingness to resolve these socio-economic problems over the past forty years has let to a total dissatisfaction with the current situation and distrust in the regime. These popular protests are underpinned by deepening socio-economic problems and political repression.

We appeal to all human rights organizations, trade unions and all other defenders of democracy, rights, freedoms and liberties to support the Iranian people’s struggle for freedom and to condemn the Iranian regime for its violent response to the protests.
